PTFA
A very warm welcome from your PTFA
Cheadle Primary School PTFA working together for our school community
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting our PTFA section within our school website. In this section, we would like to provide you with key information about the PTFA ( Parent, Teacher, Friends Association), how you can help us and how it benefits our school community.
What is a PTFA?
Parent Teacher Friends Association (PTFA) is a group of parents, teachers, and staff who work together to support the education of children and strengthen the school community.
The objectives of a PTFA Committee is to organise fund-raising activities, to involve as many people as possible and to make the activities fun and memorable!
Why do we have a PTFA?
PTFAs can help in many ways, including:
· Fundraising: PTFAs are known for their fundraising efforts, which can help pay for things that school budgets can't stretch to.
· Organising events: PTFAs organise events and activities throughout the school year, such as school fayres and discos.
· Building community: PTFAs can help build a stronger sense of community within the school and its surrounding area.
· Improving communication: PTFAs can help break down barriers to communication between parents and teachers.
· Providing a forum for discussion: PTFAs can provide a forum for parents and teachers to discuss issues related to the school and the education of the children.
· Encouraging children: PTFAs can encourage children to do their best.
· Providing opportunities to learn new skills: PTFAs can provide opportunities for members to learn new skills.
· Creating a support network: PTFAs can create a support network for parents and teachers.

The PTFA Committee
We are currently a small committee, but we are extremely enthusiastic and committed. The committee is filled by volunteers and we are continually looking for more volunteers, to enable us to continue to plan and hold events for our school community, that in turn raises vital funds to spend within our school community.
Chairperson – Mrs Grace Brown
Being an active member of the PTFA since 2015 and having the great honour of being elected and serving chairperson since 2018 to date for Cheadle primary School; together with my amazing team, we have organised many events in order to raise funds to provide those “extras” for our school children, which is otherwise not covered by the school budget.
During my tenure; the team have held many school events ie, school discos, chocolate bingo, Christmas Fayre and Summer Fayre, a stall at our Sports Day and even a stall at our local park. One of the many highlights was “The Cheadle Challenge”; a fundraising event we have organised during the pandemic period, a time where most PTFA in the UK have dwindled in numbers or were practically non-existent due to the restrictions in place. The best bit about organising events are bringing our school community together, witnessing a great camaraderie between us and seeing all the lovely smiley faces from everyone plus an added bonus of “thank you” from our children when you see them in school the next day.
As a mother of three beautiful children and during my spare time I also love to sing and cook. Juggling between motherhood, a classroom support assistant and the PTFA volunteering became my usual grind. If volunteering is for you then all it takes to do a PTFA job is dedication, hard work, love what you do and a good amount of laughter too. Being friendly and kind is a must as I have met and gained so many wonderful people who are now friends because of the PTFA. These characteristics truly helps at building great relationship when it is time to do the usual running at Bookers or when it is time to either knock on the door with a sponsorship letter on hand.
I write this with the hope that you could give our school PTFA a try. There will always be tea, coffee and biscuits to enjoy and pass around.
Thank you so much for taking the time (a precious commodity) to read this and I look forward to meeting you very soon.

PTFA Meetings
We try to meet each term, to organise events and job lists, to discuss future events and to discuss where to spend the money raised, to benefit the children and school community. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) happens every Autumn Term.
How we raise money
The PTFA Committee works hard throughout the year to organise fund raising events, and activities for the school community. Events include the Christmas Fayre, Summer Fayre, discos, and chocolate bingo.
How we spend the money we raise
Once costs are covered all additional funds raised by our PTFA go towards improving our school facilities for our children, future events, and school trips.
We discuss this during our meetings.
